Correa Ángel, Isabel Cristina2015-03-282015-03-282015-03-282256-3911http://hdl.handle.net/10567/1324This article introduces elements of a study about the grieving process of parents that have lost a child, due to any type of death, and go to Fundación Lazos Medellín, studying the subjective experience each father and mother goes through. The idea is to identify the changes that occur, characterize the representations they have about their children and describe every subject´s own actions to face the issue. A qualitative design is used with the life stories method, tale construction techniques, drawing and semi-structured interviews. The context is Fundación Lazos Medellín. The investigation is performed on three men and three women between 40 and 60 years of age. The main findings are centered on the fact that the parents experiencing grief have transformed their lives due to the loss of their children. This means that, despite the fact this experience was painful, they have grown up as human beings, they value existence more and they are more committed to help other people. Concerning the strategies to face the situation, Fundación Lazos is the most relevant one in the grieving process. No other alternatives such as culture, sports or psychological alternatives, among others, are mentioned.
