Testosterone, and androgens in general, have several effects on the organism, as well as on the sexual and not sexual organs. The beneficial effects of orchiectomy in the genital tract are therapeutic and preventive of androgen dependent diseases. There are also adverse effects such as increase of food intake and obesity, which leads to alterations in fat metabolism that generate dyslipidemias and insulin resistance, due to the absence of androgens.esCorporación Universitaria LasallistaFacultad de Ciencias Administrativas y AgropecuariasOrquiectomíaCastraciónCirugía veterinariaPerros - CirugíaFelinos - CirugíaEfectos metabólicos y hormonales post orquiectomía en caninos y felinosHormonal and metabolic effects post orchiectomy in canines and felinesEfeitos metabólicos e hormonais pós-orquiectomia em caninos e felinosArticle
