The clinical signs usually progress rapidly until the development of sepsis and septic shock, and then the prognosis is reserved, with a mortality rate of 70% approximately. The common cause is the presence of gastrointestinal tract contents in the abdominal cavity, being the treatment of choice the informal closure of the abdominal wall, maintaining the abdomen open and facilitating the process of peritoneal dialysis, by the technique called “bogota bag”, which is performed in order to keep the abdomen open and the organs covert to prevent microorganism contaminationl. This technique looks for the active and periodic drainage of the abdominal cavity, to help in the elimination of inflammation factors, prevent the adhesion of the peritoneum to abdominal organs and facilitate the expansion of the organs avoiding arterial and venous compression. This system is complemented by wet dressings and drainage tubes over the polyurethane bag, connecting this to a vacuum system getting negative pressure of 100 to 150 mmHg, with the use of a polyester adhesive plastic that covers the abdomen, allowing efficiently drainage with reduction of fluids, avoiding viscera drying, controlling fluid loss and inducing the formation of granulation tissue.esCorporación Universitaria LasallistaFacultad de Ciencias Administrativas y AgropecuariasSepticemia - SepsisPerros - EnfermedadesBolsa de Bogotá (veterinaria)Perros - Enfermedades - TratamientoPeritonitis sépticaPerros - CirugíaCierre informal y vacuum como tratamiento de sepsis abdominal en perrosInformal closure and vacuum treatment for abdominal sepsis in dogsFechamento informal e vacío como tratamento da sepsis abdominal em cãesArticle
