There is, nevertheless, a notorious lack of empirical evidence to support such an association. Objective. To determine associations between the maturity of the knowledge management, particularly in two key areas: people and organization. Another point would be Interpretation on the innovative performance, concerning the results of innovation in products, processes, the organization and the marketing. Materials and methods. The focus of the research is quantitative and of a transversal order. The companies studied were: BANCOLOMBIA, ISAGEN, SUMICOL, ISA, ARGOS, UNE and Compañía Nacional de Chocolates. The Chi Square test was performed to them in order to establish the associations among the variables. Results. Trust favors the process innovation, and same happens to the incentivation systems and the marketing innovation, and between the organizational innovation and the marketing. Nevertheless, none of the variables analyzed is related to the product innovation. Conclusion. The key areas people and organization, and the Interpretation, have no great influence on the product innovation, which, maybe, only depends on R+D and technology.
