With the diagnose of cleaner production made under an agreement with the Área Metropolitana del Valle de Aburrá, the processes of unhairing and tanning were identified as those that bring a higher environmental impact, because they demand a high water consumption and produce a big contamination in the Medellín river. The water consumption for both processes is 55% of the whole consumption of the company and waste water from the unhairing process is a 70% of the contaminant load the organization produces. By implementing PUEYRA some technological changes were made, best operative practices were assumed, training activities were organized and a number of measurements for the rational use of water were implemented. This allowed significant savings and also contributed to lower the environmental impact of the unhairing and tanning processes.esAguaInvatam LTDAPrograma de uso eficiente y racional del agua (pueyra)Corporación Universitaria LasallistaÁrea Metropolitana del Valle de AburráUso eficiente del aguaGestión ambiental empresarialCurtiembre de pielesContaminación del aguaAguas residualesINVATAM Ltda: una industria del sector curtidor que trabaja por el ahorro y uso eficiente del aguaINVATAM Ltda: An industry from the leather sector that works for the saving and efficient use of waterINVATAM Ltda: uma indústria do setor curtidor que trabalhapela poupança e uso eficiente do águaArticle
