Item Bacterias resistentes a antibióticos en ecosistemas acuáticos(Corporación Universitaria Lasallista, 2015-07) Acevedo Barrios, Rosa Leonor; Severiche Sierra, Carlos Alberto; Jaimes Morales, José Del CarmenIn this revision the subject of antibiotic resistant bacteria in aqueous ecosystems is analyzed in detail, characterizing the outlook of bacterial resistance to antibiotics. A discussion on the dissemination of antibiotics in the environment is made, studying the sources of antibiotics in aqueous ecosystems and, finally, the environmental effects of antibiotic resistant bacteria contamination are analyzed. Antibiotics are probably the most successful family of drugs developed to improve human health by preventing and treating infections, but their worldwide use and sale reveal that, in general, there is a systematic failure in data to achieve an effective intervention and the proposition of strategies against the environmental problems brought by antibiotic resistant bacteria. Besides, there is a close relationship between the remains of antibiotics in ecosystems and the increase of antibiotic resistant bacteria, but at the moment the information available is not enough to achieve a definite conclusion concerning the importance and the impact of the presence of such bacteria in aqueous environments that allow the assessment of their potential hazardousness in the ecosystems and for human health. The hypothesis that the use of antibiotics for purposes different than antibiotic therapy can increase the population of antibiotic resistant bacteria able to affect human beings and the biota in general, is also proposed.Item Evaluación de impactos ambientales en un laboratorio de calidad de aguas(Corporación Universitaria Lasallista, 2013) Acevedo Barrios, Rosa Leonor; Severiche Sierra, Carlos AlbertoIntroduction. Cleaner production is a strategy companies have, focused on productive processes, products and services, aiming to strengthen competitiveness through encouraging innovations, cost reductions and also the reduction of risks for human health and for the environment. Objectives. Identifying and categorizing environmental impacts and aspects in a water quality laboratory. methodology. For this research work, the raw material, fuel, electricity and water inputs are considered, and also are outputs –emissions, noises, discharges, and waste- aiming to fulfill environmental laws and resource management. Results. The most relevant results of this research allow the categorization of environmental impacts for the area studied, with average and low significance levels. Conclusions. Environmental impacts have a municipal level and are severe, but they are controlled with tools and infrastructure to minimize their influence in the surroundings. Most of environmental impacts have an average significance in the inputs and low in the outputs, due to the application of strategies of environmental management and to the law enforcement.Item Minería de rellenos sanitarios como alternativa de gestión para residuos sólidos(Corporación Universitaria Lasallista, 2014) Severiche Sierra, Carlos Alberto; Acevedo Barrios, Rosa Leonor; Jaimes Morales, José Del CarmenSolid waste is one of the main worries in contemporary societies, and it is a global challenge for environmental management. Its disposal in landfills, even though solving an immediate issue, is not a definite solution because it creates a new complication: the occupation of terrains, thus reducing the useful area of territories, plus the gas emission that negatively affects the atmosphere and increases the contamination risks for surface and underground water sources. This study revises the issue, taking landfill mining as a reference with its technological process, its economic impact ad its applicability as a management tool.
