Resumen
The case of a Persian cat with a respiratory difficulty and anorexia is described. After
performing the laboratory tests and the imaging studies, pyothorax was diagnosed.
The animal was also positive to feline viral leukemia. A microbiological culture of the
pleural fluid was made, and Staphylococcushaemolyticus and Corynebacteriumspp
were isolated. As a treatment, a thorax tube was used to drain the content and a
gastrostomy tube was used to feed the patient. After a treatment with antibiotics, the
patient recovered its health and was dismissed.
