Abstract

One could say that although there is information and practice for many centuries about the benefits of human-animal relationship are very recent research processes in this regard. Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT or TACA) is performed when a human interacts with predetermined criteria for therapeutic purposes. There are different types of TAA such as hippotherapy, the dolphin therapy and small animals. The purpose of these rules is to intervene to improve health conditions in people with cardiovascular problems, autism, Down syndrome, victims of violence, motricity among others. There are some organizations or institutions at global and national levels that develop these types of programs such as Bocolan Foundation of Spain and Las Golondrinas of Colombia, entities that contribute to the improvement those important activities.
