Abstract
Introduction. Literature continuously mentions
the link between knowledge management and
innovation. There is, nevertheless, a notorious lack
of empirical evidence to support such an association.
Objective. To determine associations between the
maturity of the knowledge management, particularly
in two key areas: people and organization. Another
point would be Interpretation on the innovative
performance, concerning the results of innovation
in products, processes, the organization and the
marketing. Materials and methods. The focus of the
research is quantitative and of a transversal order.
The companies studied were: BANCOLOMBIA,
ISAGEN, SUMICOL, ISA, ARGOS, UNE and
Compañía Nacional de Chocolates. The Chi Square
test was performed to them in order to establish the
associations among the variables. Results. Trust
favors the process innovation, and same happens
to the incentivation systems and the marketing
innovation, and between the organizational
innovation and the marketing. Nevertheless, none
of the variables analyzed is related to the product
innovation. Conclusion. The key areas people and
organization, and the Interpretation, have no great
influence on the product innovation, which, maybe,
only depends on R+D and technology. But in more
intangible innovations, such as those for processes,
the organization and the marketing, there are evident
associations with the knowledge management.
