Resumen
Introduction. The objective of this study was to
develop a wetland classification method for alluvial
mining landscapes and to apply it in a case study in the
Nechi River Valley as a basis for the decision-making
processes for wetland management. Materials and
Methods. A principal component analysis (PCA) was
used with 7 variables indicators of wetland functioning
and/or pressure in the physical, physicochemical and biological dimension. Results. A classification index
was made using the first 3 principal components
resulting from the component analysis explaining as
much as 66 % of the total variability in the data. The
index values allowed the relative classification of the
wetlands from the closest to the ecological optimum
to the more distant from this. Conclusion. A wetland
grouping based on the index statistics is created and
its implication for the environmental management
plan are discussed.
