Resumen
Introduction: Urban agriculture promotes the
cultivation of vegetables in the city, however seeds
are required to germinate and obtain seedlings that
allow to start this practice. Objective. The present
research evaluates the percentage of germination
of two varieties of lettuce (Lactuca sativa),
Milanesa and Conconina, to determine if there is a
significant difference in their germination to obtain
seedlings. Materials and methods. A factorial
design 22
was developed, taking into consideration
the combinations of variety and luminosity; a
statistical model was proposed to describe its
behavior. Results. The most influential factor in
the percentage of germination is the variety, the
best results were found Milanesa variety under
natural Light conditions. Conclusions. The
Milanesa variety is a good option to generate
seedlings and, under natural Light conditions, a
germination percentage of 92.5% can be obtained,
a value higher than that reported by the producer.
