Resumen

Introduction. It is fundamental to know the options students have to invest their free time in a context in which leisure possibilities for them are conditioned by the rules of the society, which finally imposes certain life styles associated to the use of alcohol, cigarettes and many other fashion uses that can provide an evading effect, but they do not contribute to their personal development. Objective. To characterize the different forms of cultural consuming and use of the free time the lasallian students have when they are out of the university. Materials and methods. A descriptive research which primary source was the self application of a survey with 39 questions. Results. In their daily life, most of the students prefer those activities that demand low efforts. The common student invests more than 50 hours in unproductive leisure activities. Conclusion. To generate other leisure options and culture, it is necessary to attract the students actively and propose activities focused on their specific interests. Those activities must be in accordance to their representations of the world, the new interaction forms and the ways of communication that characterize them.
