Introduction. It is fundamental to know the options
students have to invest their free time in a context in
which leisure possibilities for them are conditioned
by the rules of the society, which finally imposes
certain life styles associated to the use of alcohol,
cigarettes and many other fashion uses that can
provide an evading effect, but they do not contribute
to their personal development. Objective. To
characterize the different forms of cultural consuming
and use of the free time the lasallian students have
when they are out of the university. Materials and
methods. A descriptive research which primary
source was the self application of a survey with 39
questions. Results. In their daily life, most of the
students prefer those activities that demand low
efforts. The common student invests more than 50
hours in unproductive leisure activities. Conclusion.
To generate other leisure options and culture, it is
necessary to attract the students actively and propose
activities focused on their specific interests. Those
activities must be in accordance to their
representations of the world, the new interaction forms
and the ways of communication that characterize
them.
