Abstract
Introduction. Research approaches the problem of
a weak citizenship education in the society and in
the education community, understanding citizenship
culture from the commitment, assumed with the
world, of educating people who make choices
for the greater good and the justice. Objective.
Demonstrate the absence of alternatives that
approach the complexity of education processes
emphasizing education for coexistence and
citizenship. Materials and methods. A qualitative
research was made and a research method based
on ethnomethodology was applied. Results.
The findings are about the relationship based
on complex thinking and citizenship education,
establishing a theoretical development supported
on the complex thinking and citizenship categories,
ending in the articulation of these two matters in the
education field and the possible repercussions they
can have at a pedagogical level. Conclusions. It is
important to make a pedagogical reflection about
the knowledge and the citizenship development in
the Colombian education system, within a complex
thinking framework, approaching subjects such
as evaluation, the role of students, the role of the
professor, the curriculum and research.
