Resumen
Universities, by means of their education
programs, play a relevant role in the formation of
professionals who, in the future, will be able to work
as teachers or professors in education institutions.
The licenciados (licensees) are the people certified
by a university with a title, thus assuring they are
apt to exercise teaching. This recognition could be
considered as the most important and the central
function universities comply within the education
system, but this work tries to demonstrate that
this way of “credentialism” is nothing but a
shortness of seeing in the role of universities and
that their academic responsibility is, also, a social
responsibility.
