This article makes an approach to memory as a
process that allows us to think about the future,
plus remembering the past, based on Daniel
Schacter´s research. To get to know this intimate
connection that exists between the past and the
future, a revision of the areas involved and the
components of the memory that intervene is
made, the fact of forgetting is approached as a
memory failure and, finally, the conclusions on the
subject are offered.
